Hi,  I pay around £25pm. At the moment, I've reduced my Direct Debit to £1

A bit of a shot yourself in the foot moment.  They will now likely only refund £1 to your bank instead of £25.

If Bulb uses a similar process to BG it would be the better idea to increase your direct debit to 66/67 so they will return the complete payment to you.

Ignore, I have not thought this through.

Octopus have given me a DD holiday (on Variable DD anyway and I haven't paid since account was switched to them in April) and the government money is now building up more credit in my energy account.

  • I'm in the same position as Alnat1 except it's a fixed DD that has been suspended. It could be that I'll be in credit after the last 6 months payment has been made which will then carry forward and then resume DD at a later date.

I'd suggest taking the credit on your electricity account. You're still getting the money into your budget even if the benefit may be over a longer term from your point of view, but you won't be spending on electricity and can then spend on the gas as needed.

Maybe try asking for a refund of some of the credit in your account?  Worded that way, so they don't think you're asking specifically for the 'government money'.

Although the money was to help towards energy costs, it was to free up equivalent money so that people were less financially shocked by the projected increases so they still had some money to pay for other useful things like food, rent, etc. … !
Their refusal by saying it's for energy is puzzling, as you've specifically said you need it for gas which is also energy.

Any one not got Bulb email voucher for ebss this month for Bulb pre-payment meters [non-smart]? I got Oct on the 10th, no spam, been checking since yesterday.

I noticed the Bulb support forum will not allow post as Bulb is behind on hosting services payment, I assume due to Octopus take over, could they have not paid for Domain services i.e not be able to send emails as noted on MSE post Bulb to Octopus blog

Edit/update - For some reason, they are sending my voucher via post. This has completely messed up my fiscal plan.
