SMETS1 Meter Reading Query
Was with Eon for many years with a SMETS1 smart meter which took readings on the 1st of the month. Was moved to Eon next last October and once the whole upgrade fiasco onto the network again was resolved I ended up with meter reading dates of the 10th of the month. I have been trying since then to get them changed, finally after months of phone calls they finally reverted the electric back to the 1st of the month. However the gas is still set to the 10th. They have nor got back to me to say it's impossible to move the meter reading dates on SMETS1 meters and you have to use the date it was migrated to their system. Surely if that's the case they wouldn't have been able to change the electric date which they did do already?
All I want is for the meter read date that bills are created from are in sync with my IHD (which I set to dual fuel cost per month so far and which resets shortly after midnight on the 1st of the month). Shouldn't be this difficult and take 12+ months and counting to try and resolve such a simple issue.
Sorry for the rambling but the question to anyone genned up on SMETS1 meters - is it possible or not to change the meter reading date as I am now being told?

My initial reaction is ‘complete rubbish’. Smart meters are just meters. Data is pulled from the meters at a time of the supplier’s choosing. If there is any constraint then this sits within the supplier’s billing system.1

Yeah, sounds like nonsense to me too. If it was a push system, maybe it would be surprising but acceptable. As it’s a pull system, they can choose when to grab the readings.1

Well after another telephone conversation some more info was provided. Apparently eon next have tried to do this and it essentially trashes the meter on the gas side. electric side works fine. So they have agreed to change the meter and install a SMETS2 next month which you can change the date on so a result, Will have only taken 15 months by the time the meter is replaced!0
