Hi,
Me & my partner are moving in to our first home on the 24th October. We have lived together previously so know how to arrange the various bills etc but for the past 2 years we have lived with parents so very out of sync with the current situation.
What is everyones advice/opinion on staying on a variable rate or going for a fixed plan. I know there is no cheap deals anymore but don't want stitch ourselves up.

Also does anyone know if we are entitled to the governments Energy Bill Support Scheme or do you have to have had an active account before it has been released. I’ve tried to find info online but cant see anything.
Any help is appreciated.
Many thanks

You qualify for part of the £400 EBSS in every month that you have an active domestic electricity account, so you should be good for most (5/6) of that.
I don’t know if there are many (any?) fixed tariffs on offer at the moment, but I doubt any are cheaper than the standard variable rate.1 -
Hi,remember, when you move in you are on a deemed contract with the existing supplier and will be on the capped rate.Contact them and give meter readings, don't let them talk you into a fix.2
