Hi everyone,
Coxy, well done on the weight loss. What a shame about DD, it's always a worry when they are away from home.
I lost a lot of yesterday because I went back to bed for the morning but I needed it. Steve isn't feeling great, his cough is getting worse so he managed to book a call from the doctor. It's an exercise in timing, you have to start ringing just before they open the lines and keep pressing repeat - if you are lucky you then get a high place in the queue. Steve managed fifth, the other week I was a few seconds late and was number 44, needless to say I didn't wait.
I ordered some new vests yesterday, I generally wear them from October to April and this year will be even more essential. We need to get some for Esben but I want to get some that aren't boring plain white, last year he was still in nappies and had poppered ones which come in all sorts of designs and colours.
Easy dinner tonight, pork casserole which I cooked in the slow cooker over the weekend, it just needs warming and rice and broccoli cooking.
Have a good day.8 -
Morning all; dull but dry here so far.
Today is my only free day of the week so I should make time to do some housework! I can see cobwebs in the bay window so might clear that and run the duster around downstairs before making a lemon cake. I made some chocolate chip fairy cakes yesterday, before cooking our main meal in the oven (MSE content there!) but they will mostly be taken to DGS tomorrow.
Cleared the ironing pile yesterday and finally managed to buy the new kettle. The old one has gone in the cupboard as a spare, as it still works if you fiddle with the lid.
Need to book a hotel for a music weekend I've enrolled on in February and make a start on an enrolment post for my Morris side. We are getting very low on numbers and it would be good to get a few new people joining.
Better get a move on. Have a good day everyone.9 -
Morning all, I was MIA over the weekend, the usual DGC football matches, and our own town match, then yesterday afternoon was spent mainly cooking, pork tenderloin for main and apple crumble for the men, my baking apples needed using. Because I have been following a low carb/keto diet for a few months now, I often have to prep different stuff to accompany the meat for myself, and make a different pud - all takes time! Despite my best efforts the menfolk aren't big on veg, the odd carrot and frozen peas suit themDp1, sorry about your little schoolRR enjoy your day.Not sure what I'll concoct tonight with the chicken breasts I have taken out, might stuff with garlic /herb soft cheese wrapped in bacon, that usually goes down well.I hope everyone has a good day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. DP1 I honestly have no idea how Te*co operate their deliveries! About a year ago my deliveries were starting to arrive much later than promised with quite a few subs or OOS and one cancelled altogether at an hour's notice! . My DF had the same problem and when she mentioned the sudden poor service to the driver it was he who blamed it on a new distribution centre. My DF sacked them a while back while I persevered! She is now happily using Ocado with no complaints so maybe I will try them next! Meanwhile my Iceland order arrived at 8.10 this morning with no subs or OOS items. x
ps COXY 3 years is a long time to try and forget. I hope your DD soon starts to feel better. We worry about our kids no matter what their age don't we."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Hello all, just a quick pop in before we go up Dad's. I'm taking lunch for us, burgers, buns and onions then he doesn't have to worry about food today. Mr Fix It is trying to get his surgery to answer the phone, he's been waiting for over half an hour and it's just constantly ringing ! I watched a programme called "the Winter of Discontent" last night, I'd forgotten just how awful that was, but we got through it.
TA hope you get on with the new bags from Iceland, they're awful IMO and the delivery men must be pulling their hair out. Grrr to Tesco !
Welcome Flamingo.
Take care all.

ScarletRibbons said:I meant to say Hi to Flamingo 747, welcome, and keep posting!
Trying to get motivated today, it's dry out and I need to walk to the shops and garden, but I also need to clean the house. When I have too many jobs I get locked up and unable to do any! My husband is feeling poorly from his flu jab on Saturday, so I cant really nag him to do the home jobs I want doingMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

Morning all ! I will say right now I have not caught up yet. So commiserations and congratulations in a blanket sweep for anything I have not yet discovered [I will go back through, just might take me a couple of weeks]...So the holiday was in no way a holiday, we worked so much that despite all the food I ate, I didn't put on any weight at all, but the main discovery was that I can do a lot more than I thought I could which bodes well for future exertions. Family is mostly OK, with the things that old age and infirmity bring, but it was lovely to see the ones of our age. The house lives so far to fight another day and we are now well versed in woodworm, failing cement and other delights and surprises of house neglect. Next time should be a lot better because we won't be having to clean ceilings of five years of hanging cobwebs [no fun when they hit you in the face]. And we should be able to go out for a few days here and there which we didn't get to do this time. So all in all, a successful and productive trip, it was fun driving through the countryside bits and the motorways were great in comparison to ours, far less traffic...One !!!!!! moment, a car in Italy decided it didn't want to stop at a roundabout and let anyone else on the roundabout go as they should so hit my car on the side so that has to go in for reapir, but no injuries thankfully. So I'm back to do a lot of weeding and gardening, definitely looking forward to that, and potentially, some house renovation [after I buy a new drill, I gave my almost spanking new one to my cousins son, he was in the middle of house renovation himself so can definitely use it]...Hope you're all OK in the main and nothing too shabby has happened...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10

taff lovely to have you back
reading your posts are my daily exercise
All on track so far for tomorrows completion. Back on to all the ridiculously long call waiting times to cancel the remaining stuff for the house. Worse by far is edf ...40 mins so far but has to be done and I guess its kinda understandable. Buyer moved quite a bit of stuff into the garage over the weekend. So fingers crossed again all will work out
Opted for the gammon in coke yesterday so will do a rinse and repeat tonight with peas and boiled spuds. Should have quite few meals left over. If tomorrow goes to plan I will treat myself to a blowout takeaway
Have a good day all11 -
Good afternoon all
I've recently rejoined this site. I was here years ago. About me, 60 year old, semi-retired nurse in the process of leaving nursing and setting up my own cleaning business. I live with my fabulous partner and 21 year old son. I'm very much into make do and mending as is my DP who can fix and build most things.
It's a decent day today and the washing is out. We're having our kitchen ripped out and refitted this week, so no housework this week. We're mainly living out of the front room but fortunately I prepped loads of meals beforehand and they're in the freezer. DP has just had 90 bags of coal delivered, so we have fuel for the next 2 years. I'm looking forward to catching up on things and sharing knowledge.
Have a good day 😊9
