Hi guys
i have never raised a chargeback before but having an issue getting a refund from Trainline who are refusing to refund a refundable ticket as it was activated by mistake, despite sending evidence of buying and travelling on another ticket at the same journey time. Does anyone know the best way to rasie an amex chargeback, i dont see this option in the app or online account?

Hi guys
this morning i bought a ticket london to leeds on trainline, and once at the station wanted to get another train and saw on the app it was refundable, by then i had already scanned it to get through the barrier which “activated” the ticket on their app. I then bought another ticket also to leeds on board but on a different service same time. Trainline are refusing to refund the original ticket despite being able to prove i purchased a seperate one.Do i have any rights as its annoying i am being charged £60 for a ticket i didnt use and says was refundable, or can I chargeback this on amex?Thanks0 -
If the service ran you're limited by the terms and conditions set out by the trainline, so I don't think you're entitled to chargeback anything here. If they count scanning the ticket as it being used (which, all providers do) - then you've used the ticket.
Your chargeback would just be denied by the evidence of the activation.4 -
Ok but i would like to try as i have evidence the ticket wasnt used

Talk to AMEX.
Be aware that raising a chargeback just because you're unhappy with the terms is fraudulent. You'd need to agree that directly with the provider.
Chargebacks are for fraud, undelivered items, or other issues where you do not receive the goods you purchased.
In this case, you have received the goods.1 -
Cant see you winning this one.nick1234 said:Hi guys

You used the ticket by activating it. How do they know you never used it and picked a random ticket up off the floor for the other train
no you cant use a chargeback because you were given the service you paid for. Not their fault you changed your mind you need evidence you did not receive the service paid for which you don't have.1 -
You don’t have that evidence, very often you scan at departure station but you don’t have to scan at the arrival station. Yes you purchased another ticket that was used but that could have been used by a travelling companion.nick1234 said:Ok but i would like to try as i have evidence the ticket wasnt used

Any chargeback you make is almost certainly going to be successfully challenged by trainline.1 -
Not useful to post your question multiple times

Thanks that is a good point, leeds requires scanning the ticket on exit which i didnt do for the original ticket. Also see you point about companion, but i paid for the new ticket on my debit card, and the original ticket is on my app so cant be used by anyone else.Keep_pedalling said:
