Cashback / Rewards Credit Card Options

Options
The other half currently has an Amazon Credit Card that she clears every month and earns lots of Amazon Vouchers - where she does the majority of her online shopping. Sadly that scheme is coming to an end so we are starting to look for a new replacement. Some of the introductory offers are interesting, but she doesn't like changing accounts and doesn't like having lots of cards or bank accounts. So ignoring the Chase 1% for 1 year bank account, its looking like 1 of the following, unless someone can suggest something different? Main facts are very good credit rating, sensible salary and spending of around 1k a month will be cleared every month.

Asda CC (main supermarket shop there or Morrisons) 1% at Asda and 0.3% elsewhere
American Express Platinum Everyday Cashback 0.5% and then 1% above 10k (5% first 90 days)
Lloyds Cashback Creditcard 0.25% on 4k and then 0.5% (£20 bonus)

Amex definitely give the best rewards, but you really do need a second non-Amex to cover where it's not accepted. I've got the Amex platinum rewards (the £25/year one because my spending makes it worthwhile); plus the Lloyds card as a backup.

(plus a nationwide card for overseas spending only!)

If you did go for an Amex, try and get someone to refer you (you will get lots of offers around here  :D ) for an extra bonus.

The market leader as far as I'm concerned is the Barclaycard Avios card, which pays 1 Avios per £ spent which can be converted to 1.6 Nectar points, so effectively 0.8% back to spend at Sainsbury's, Argos or eBay.

Amexs are good but tbh the Platinum Cashback card is a bit of a lame duck in their range now as far as I'm concerned. The Nectar Card would be the product I'd endorse most for average consumers (2 Nectar points per £ spent, so effectively 1p in the £ when used at face value, £25 annual fee after the first year).

Virgin Money offer a Virgin Atlantic card, but there's not really much use for Virgin points other than travel unless you want your rewards to be paid in Greggs sausage rolls...

M&S Bank, Tesco Bank and Sainsbury's Bank offer credit cards but the earning rate is pitiful, even in their own stores. The Asda/Jaja card is the leader in this pack now.

There are also Halifax and Natwest offerings which are essentially the same as the Lloyds and RBS offerings respectively. I've held the Natwest reward card for years and it's fine for what it is, although its utility for me is somewhat depleted now both Aldi and Lidl support Amex. It'd be a solid choice for someone who wanted a single credit card to use everywhere.
