Dishwasher problem

Our dishwasher washes everything apart from mugs which it doesn't wash properly.
Unless they are metal mugs.
Any idea how to fix this?  I suppose I could just buy lots of camping mugs but that is not really ideal.

What detergent are you using in the dishwasher?

If you want to remove existing stains (especially tea) I've always found steradent tablets very effective.

Ours struggles with tea stains - I use the same mug all day - I usually need to scrub it or bleach it before putting in dishwasher. Scrambled egg is another no-go in ours

Check the spray holes in the upper arm aren't clogged. Rice can get in then on some models. The usually unscrew for inspection and cleaning.

We had this problem( as said check the upper arm first)

Some tabs are just no good for tea and an other problem can be using the eco washes that run at lower temps which stops some others working.

Since moving to fairy the problem has stopped.

The trick is to stock up when you find them cheap,  amazon S&S often under 10p,  last lot 250 from Wilko 7.5p

Funny story I was going to say, "We are using the same as forever Sainsbury's all in one."
However I did check and my wife told me that she couldn't find them when she went shopping and she put the new ones in the old box. So we don't know what ones we are using but
    a) they look very similar to sainsbury's
    b) they don't work the same.

    Thank you both.
I used to have no problems with any stains but now we have a different detergent it is a problem
I will check the arms though.
When we find the solution we will let people know.
  • We bought ecover tablets and now everything is fine.

Thanks for the update - it's always nice when folk come back with a resolution, it's helpful for other people who experience similar problems.
For what it's worth, we've always used just Aldi/Lidl own-brand tablets and they always seem to work fine on pretty much everything.  We do have very soft water, so maybe that helps?  But it might be worth giving them a try - they're cheap enough that you've lost very little if they turn out to be rubbish

I might do that but we have hard water so our experience might be very different.

We've always used Aldi's Magnum All in 1 tablets - no problems at all.
