Hi,
A couple of months ago, I SORN'ed my Motorbike, in order to do a few repairs, and to save a bit of Road Tax, because i don't use it in the Autumn/winter. However, I've kept my eye out on a lovely Royal Enfield Meteor 350cc bike, and I'm hoping to trade in my old bike. I've already put the deposit down on the new bike, and it should be good to go in 3 weeks... But how on earth do I get my old bike to the dealer, when I've SORN'ed it? My bike insurance, and MOT is still valid- so do I have to tax it, just to take it a few miles down the road?

Dealer may collect and deliver the new bike at the same time.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

You could tax it today (for 12 months), and ride it for the 3 weeks to get your money's worth, then when you trade it in and change keeper you will be refunded the remaining 11 months tax.Or as suggested, the dealer will likely collect it when they deliver the new one, but to get the best price they will need to see the 'bike.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Pre book an MOT somewhere close, if not the dealer you are dealing with.
They should understand what you are doing.
If a vehicle has a pre booked MOT you can legally ride/drive it to that appointment without road tax as long as it's not too far and you don't stop off shopping!
It's the booking that's important not the MOT, so you don't have to go through with it.0 -
Ask the dealer if they can deliver/collect.
Or do you have any friends with a van/trailer?
If not, then it's probably cheapest to just tax it for the month.
