Walking frame (Zimmer)

My 94-year-old mother was provided by the hospital with a walking frame with wheels at the front following a hip fracture. She is dependent on this for moving about within her apartment. She wants to know whether a frame with wheels at the front is suitable for use outside her apartment. I seem to remember that Zimmer frames did not historically have wheels.
I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".

Suitable on flat floors. But get a 3 or 4 wheel walker for anywhere a bit rough

Or phone your local council and ask for an Occupational Therapy assessment to get advice on the best form of outdoor support.Signature removed for peace of mind3

This. The ones with wheels aren’t suitable for everyone for various reasons.Savvy_Sue said:Or phone your local council and ask for an Occupational Therapy assessment to get advice on the best form of outdoor support. Will she be getting physio? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -
Thank you. The local council was good to a degree when my mother left the hospital, but its primary focus was getting my mother off their books as quickly as possible once they knew she had savings. Help was available for UP TO 4 WEEKS. I will try again to contact Occupational Therapy.Savvy_Sue said:Or phone your local council and ask for an Occupational Therapy assessment to get advice on the best form of outdoor support.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. I contacted the local council and some other agencies. There is no assistance without a GP referral.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0

Then ask GP for (urgent) referral.
Certainly, though, my (English) Council OTs you can ask yourself via the telephone.1 -
Solihull council will not engage. The GP will speak to my mother on 31 October, the first appointment available. I think all of these GP referral requests are used to manage expenditures.Rodders53 said:Sterlingtimes said:I contacted the local council and some other agencies.
