Is anyone comparing energy providers anymore? Is it really pointless these days?

Switching supplier every few months seems excessive?  How much have you really saved doing that?  Every time I looked (prior to the present situation) the savings by switching were minimal and I would not want to undergo the hassle and potential problems of switching supplier for such a modest saving.

I am with Octopus and I regard their better than average customer service and the flexibility YOU have to manage your account as way more important than switchng to save a few £££ then finding your new supplier has rubbish customer service and you are no longer in control.

There may be other reasons than price. Customer service will vary and will be important to some people.

A previous supplier only gave me 6 monthly bills / statements. With Sainsbury's energy (Eon next) I've become used to taking monthly readings and getting a monthly statement. I'd move for that alone.

Bizarre isn't it that privatising the industry to introduce competition has ended up with the prices being set by the government and the government paying the private companies to help their customers because the price is too high.
Thats what happens when wholesale has no real competition.
  • It is worth keeping an eye on Octopus’ Tracker and Agile tariffs. Some pundits are predicting a fall in the price of gas next year and this change will appear first in Tracker type tariffs.
