Energy rebate
This is my first post so bear with me. I'm with Octopus and pay over the odds for my energy to build up credit for the winter months. I pay 230/month for dual fuel bill, but only use about 110 pounds worth/ month, so building up credit. Octopus have told me that the rebate will be taken off the amount I pay and not the amount I use. This would mean that I'd be paying 164 pounds, which would eat into my credit and put me into debt, according to their calculation. Surely the rebate should be taken off the 110 I actually use?

Welcome to the forum.
No, you misunderstand.
You will pay £164 from your bank account, but your credit will still go up by the full £230. The government pays that extra bit for you.2 -

I'm on a payment holiday for the next 6 months because my DD is under £66/67 per month. I've done the readings using last months electric and gas usage at the October rates and taken £66 off the usage figure and my £218 credit will be reduced by £17.50 per month, about £104. After March 2023 I will increase My DD in the region of £25 at least to make up for the new prices unless there if another rebate offered by the government, which I find highly unlikely.Someone please tell me what money is0
