  • If your dynamic unit rate is less than 34p / kWh — congrats, you’re getting a better price than most
  • If your dynamic unit rate is 34-52p / kWh, it will be discounted to 34p / kWh automatically
  • If your dynamic unit rate is above 52p / kWh, it will be discounted by 17p automatically — so 78p / kWh will be reduced to 61p / kWh

So essentially, if you're on the latest Agile, you might as well switch back to variable.
4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.

Should 52p not be in the third category? 52p minus 17p is 35p.

Or is Octopus just nice to all those who had the 52p Agile cap.

OTOH there's a gale forecast for Scotland at the weekend and the day-ahead wholesale price for tomorrow's electricity is averaging 10p/kWh. Agile (and Tracker) prices are likely to be low this weekend.
You might want to hold off cancelling Agile until early next week!

If the rest of the world is anything to go by, it looks like it could be a very stormy autumn in general.

What was the standing charge on the 55p capped Agile? If its a bit lower than EPG then it might be worth staying on just for that if you are a low or medium user. With the current 17p deduction method I suspect it will be next to impossible to load shift below 34p most of the time so for a high user the EPG will be cheapest.

The latest 78p capped Agile is obviously poor value, but then it always was and I doubt anyone is actually on it.

I've added the complete text from the email I received. There's no mention of the time period over which the average applies so I assume its per bill.

Agile rates for Saturday have been published. Plung pricing overnight.
Outgoing Agile is looking a bit sad, if you've got solar - although there might not be much sunshine tomorrow anyway!
