Fixed about a month ago ( E 53.06 & 48.15, G13.43 & 27.22 ), website says SVR fir my region is ( E 28.29 & 48.15, G7.44 & 27.22 ) - but they are not saying what the reduced rates will be for the fixed tariff - anyone know what they might be or how to get hold of the info?

I presume the new rates kick in from midnight tonight?

  • There is unlikely to be any change to standing charge.

Take 17p off the electricity rate of your fix and 4.2p off the gas rate.  If that makes them lower than the SVT, it will be the SVT.  If it doesn't, then that's your answer.

Unless E.ON do the strange thing that they have slightly hinted at and put everyone all the way down to the SVT.

Thanks 17p of the unit rates takes me from 53 to 36 - still about 9p above SVR for E and 18p above for gas...so I will get on the phone to them now
  • I would love to know the answer to this too- no one at Eon is replying to my messages and the person on the phone last week advised to wait and see as they couldn't give new quotes. Meanwhile my account dashboard is still showing the more expensive fixed rate (Next v19) with no rate reduction.

I just got through to Eon - took about 30 minutes - they still don't know what the fix prices were so I just changed to the SVR - DD was 350 now back down to about 200!

Dashboards haven't been updated yet, that's true.  The method I described above is the one that the government is telling them to use though (with the caveat that E.ON can choose to make things cheaper than this if they want to).

V19 minus discount is pretty close to the SVT, I think.  V20 minus discount is way above.

OP the variable rates you quote are today's rates not tomorrow's price guarantee rates

However, they've said that even if you don't get told the new rates, you'll be charged the cheapest rates and not the rates on your tariff from 1st October. Whether I actually trust them to do this properly is another thing entirely however. So if your fixed rate is more than 17p higher than the PCG I'd still have moved manually.

Did the calculations (for Electricity only Next Online v20/19/18 Direct Debit) and found (for the Northern region) that if the HMG 17p/kWh EPG electricity reduction only is applied v20 pays 17.1p/kWh more, v19 pays 9.91p/kWh more and v18 pays 2.62p/kWh more).  The cost for gas follows the same sort of pattern although v18 would go down to the cap itself.   Pity Eon Next have not been able to confirm to anyone exactly what they are going to do (and when).  Someone high up at Eon Next must know what they are going to do from midnight tonight but alas it seems that their CS staff and their customers do not.

Yes, you're right, thought I was on V19 (and was basing my comment on what would happen to my tariff) but it appears I'm on V18.

V18 about 2p more for electricity and at the cap for gas based on my region.

Thanks Sparky - turns out I'm v17 but I'll just hold tight until tomorrow and hope E.ON discount it
