Tesco Credit Cards Charges

Hi I did a balance transfer to the tesco credit card on a 0% transfer for 12 months, which will end in September 2008. just downloaded the latest statement and it says if we only pay the minimum due this month they're going to charge us £32.91 interest next month.

Tried ringing but the lines are just busy all morning, has anybody else had this appear on their statements is it a computer error?

Worried about not paying it off in full now

  • Have you used the card for purchases?
  • no never even activated the card, cut it up soon as received as i only took it out for the 0% balance transfer for 12 months, feel maybe they made a mistake as their phonelines are constantly engaged

  • Sounds like you should definitely chase this up as early as possible.
  • I don't know if this is relevant to your situation, roxystaff, but this is what's happened to me.

I keep a Tesco card for nothing but the special offer on the balance transfer, paying off the minimum by direct debit every month. In September, due to an error, this direct debit was taken twice. It was refunded to my bank account but I've now discovered that this refunded amount is being charged at the higher rate for purchases, not the special balance transfer rate.

I've contacted them this evening and am told they will look into it (apparently the people who could sort it out are only in weekdays 9am-5pm), so I'll try back in a couple of working days (i.e. probably after Christmas) to see what's happening.
  • Hi. I just started a new thread on the tesco credit card. Take a look and beware. We did a balance transfer and use it for purchases. When we try to pay off the purchases, they take the money off the interest free balance transfers instead and charge us interest on the purchase. THey have admitted on the phone that we were misled and we have written a strong letter of complaint so we shall see what happens. The card has gone.
