Hi. This perhaps has already been asked.
Sold something that cost me just over £100 so want to send using RM 1st class signed for so comp comes is £100. Rather take into my local PO on Monday as strikes Fri/Sat. Only option I'm getting is collection when you go through the steps on monday. My postman doesn't take a stamp so there's no proof of posting even though he always scans it (in case it goes missing). eBay's parcel costing is different as only offers the typical £50 comp for 1st and 2nd class parcels. Anyone know what's best or just do it at the PO....though unsure if I get the £100 comp and if it'll be £8.31 for Tracked 24 parcel (medium parcel up to 5kg). TIA..

Firstly be aware that signed for will only compensate you up to £50.
Personally I would look online on the RM site at RM tracked 48 as I think that gives you £100 (but please check) print your label from RM and take it to a mail centre , you get a POP on the same sheet of paper as the label so get that stamped.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I believe there is an option to remove.
though seems a common issue tripping customers up and posties arriving for collections with no item.0 -
Yes, they go into the basket as two items, one parcel and one collection.
Once in basket, you can delete the collection, leaving the parcel in the basket.
Tracked48 has compensation cover up to £100, it does need to be handed to RM- a Post Office will not accept it. As Soolin says, get that PoP stamped.0 -
Don't you get an e-mail as proof for collections?1

Thanks. Just tried but still can't send thru a PO. I don't drive and don't have a delivery office near me to drop it off there, and don't want to risk collection with no stamp/PoP. I'll just have to take this somewhat heavy item to PO it seems....still unsure if a glitch as doesn't seem right can only be collected without PoP and can't take to a local PO.
If going via RM website, it's £100 comp. Unsure if it reverts to £50 at the PO.0 -

if you are seeing £100 compensation then you are looking at RM 24 or 48 and that is only available online and dropped off at a mail centre or collected.
if you want £100 compensation using a post office then you will have to upgrade to guaranteed, which will be expensive.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If you have it collected you get a PoP emailed to you. Great service, I've used it for a couple of years now, never had a no show.1

. Highly recommended by me and well worth the small fee they charge.0

The only other option is Special Delivery to meet that compensation level, which costs a lot more than Tracked48.
As others have advised when collected by RM you will get an email which acts as your proof of posting.0
