Napier parking fine

My daughter borrowed my car. In her haste when parking she entered her own vehicle registration number rather than that of the she was in and paid £4.00 via an app.. She realised her mistake and asked the app people what they could do. They responded but said they could do nothing. Napier sent a parking fine of £100. It was appealed to Napier and they have reduced the fine to £20 as a gesture of goodwill. Should we pay or appeal further. If we were to pay, would we be in order to deduct the £4 which they had for a car that never parked there? What do you think? Pay, appeal further or pay but less £4

£20 is the going rate for a Major Keying Error as it is known.  You/She are unlikely to do better.  Do not deduct £4

I agree. You don't want the hassle of dealing with a surprise claim from Napier any time within the next 6 years, and Napier do sue, and are more successful than most other PPCs.

Not worth the uncertainty, then the mountain of work if they sue, to shake off a £20 get out of jail offer!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I agree. If it was one of the "softer" PPCs it might be worth the fight, but as already mentioned, it is hard to win against Napier, and they will take it all the way to court.

It might still be worth a landowner complaint if there is time, but personally I would pay the £20 and move on if you cannot get it cancelled.
