I wash most things in cold water these days, straight after cooking or eating. Greasy tins, pans I'll use hot water

Put some cold water in them immediately after dishes up with a drop of washing up liquid and after you've eaten the pans will come clean easily with just a wipe although you might need to scrub a bit if anything has burnt on.  It's what we do as like @Longwalker our hot water takes a long time to come through by which time you have done the dishes!
