How many mortgage applications are too many?

Options
My mortgage is up in 6 months and my current lender can't discuss a new rate until December. I have an agreement in principle (DIP) with a new lender and am considering going for the full mortgage application to lock in the current fixed rate. In the unlikely event that my current lender can offer a better rate in December, will my mortgage application with this new lender negatively impact my chances of remortgaging with the existing lender due to the credit search? There are no issues with affordability and my credit rating is excellent.

If only 1 application shouldn't be a problem.

To secure the rate will need to make full application.

@hallion A product-switch/rate-switch/product-transfer with your current mainstream lender involves no credit-checks so any recent hard-checks should have no impact on what you are offered in December. In any case, for someone with a clean credit history a mortgage app hard-check from September/October is very unlikely to stop you from a further application even in the next few weeks.

I get plenty of clients who come to me soon after a declined application. On its own, that has never stopped me from placing their case.
