Joint savings account

I’m wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. I am looking for a joint savings account that we both have to sign for in branch to withdraw any money.

we currently have a joint account with Nationwide but the majority of the savings account are online and have instant access.

My husband is a recovering gambling addict and for years has had somebody else in charge of his savings but now it would be nice for him to see savings in his own name but the option of him withdrawing it I am self removed.
We do have a house but unfortunately his name isn’t on the mortgage due to his credit history so we are looking to try and do positive moves in his name so hopefully in the future for him a better credit history.

We don’t have a lot of money to initially put in there. I’d say probably at the most it would be about £1500 start us off. We are going to be getting £5,000 in inheritance in the next few months so it would be good if this was set up
prior to us getting this money so it could go into there and him
see it but not take it without us both signing.

  • We have a joint savings account with Coventry BS, when we opened it we had the option of one or two signatures to withdraw money. We use a passbook to withdraw money, so no online facility through our choosing

Savings accounts won't have any impact on a person's credit file as these accounts are not recorded on credit files. Your husband should read this: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/credit-rating-credit-score/

I am not sure whether there are any savings accounts which require the signature of all account holders. You could ask in your local Building Societies whether they do them.

How long ago did you open this account?

Could you get a joint account with a long notice period, to prevent / restrict the withdrawal of money?
