Earlier handover date then expected experiences?

Hey.
so our shared ownership property is completely finished, carpets down etc.inspection done.
But our advised handover date isn’t till 25th October! (Has been delayed 5 times already)

but has anyone experienced actually getting in sooner, we have a 10 day notice to complete too.

Just because it's finished doesn't mean it's been signed off by building control. You can't move in until that's been done and there's often a wait for the visit to be done and then the paperwork issued.
Then once it's issued, your solicitor will need the copies, so as we're only talking just over 3 weeks until the 25th, I'd say it's unlikely it'll be earlier.0 -

No that's the inspection to issue the NHBC guarantee. I mean the actual building control dept at the council who check the house passes the specifications set when the planning permission was granted etc.

Being shared ownership, I guess a Housing Association is involved. (Or is it a private scheme?)
Housing Associations can sometimes be very slow at getting their side of things sorted. An estate agent was telling me about new build flats being left empty for 2 or 3 months, whilst a Housing Association get their admin sorted.
And the agent was saying that the particular Housing Association they dealt with wouldn't reply to queries about progress and timescales - the agent just had to wait until the Housing Association decided it was time to give the agent an update.
But hopefully, your Housing Agent might be a bit easier to deal with.
