Help with DVD burning

I am using Roxio Creator LE - Dell version.
It is incredibly slow when burning DVD's. Over an hour each way! Currently running at 0.59 - 0.85 X.
Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? Even if I close all other programmes and leave Roxio running on its own, it is still as slow.

What speed is the DVD drive and what speed media are you using? It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Hmmm, not sure what speed DVD drive, how do I check? The media is 8X. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1300 only just about a year old. It's quite a decent spec, but not sure what speed!Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

Try another program.
I always burn @ X4 and a full DVD takes around 1/2 hour using Nero.0 -
I'd suggest checking your settings in Roxio and make sure you've got it set to max speed, also check the messages when you're burnign discs. See if it says anything about the speed as some DVD writers don't like particular discs. On my old PC I used 8x discs but they only ever burned at 4x.It's my problem, it's my problem

I use nero or clonedvd and it takes ten mins. at 6 times- I have an 18x and a 16x burner but never burn over 8x.0
