Scam energy bill reduction claim text

Options
Beware! I've just received a text from "The Government" urging me to apply for my energy bill reduction by following a link. I've marked as spam and blocked but feel it may not be the last one I, and others, get.
Don't forget that we don't have to do anything to get it - it automatically comes to everyone. And shame on those awful people who try to defraud people during these tough times.

I received two similar texts over the weekend.  Gladly the texts / links were sufficiently obvious as to not be from the Government as to make click-through unlikely.  Unfortunately, click-through may still happen - partly because people are so concerned about costs, partly because the rules for the energy grant are not necessarily well known, and partly because the texts both landed early in the morning so it is the first thing seen when you might be not fully in conscious-land.   Take care all!

Oh yes! I just remembered that I had one of those as well. My phone detected spam and alerted me but I knew anyway that you don't have to apply for it.

It's very worrying. Thanks for mentioning it here.
