Off Peak Electricity

Hi, we're with E-ON Next on a two year fixed tariff which ends August 2023.

I cannot get clear information from E-ON's website on Off Peak cheaper electricity apart from what appears to be a EV tariff for Electric Vehicle owners which we are not.

I've also read that you need a Dual Tariff meter for an off peak supply.

My questions are,
1. Do E-ON supply an Off Peak (non EV) tariff?
2. Do we have to pay for a Dual Tariff meter?
3. Can E-ON force us into having a Dual Tariff Smart Meter?

Comments

  • 1. Yes, they do 'normal' Economy 7.
    2. No
    3. They will obviously want to fit a smart meter because that's what they have been told to do.  Why don't you want one?
  • Do you heat your home using electricity? If not then the chances are that E7 won't work out cheaper for you.

And yes, in certain circumstances you can be "forced" to have a meter changed, and in those circumstances the new meter will be a smart meter.

If you don't have duel tariff meter then you will need to change it anyway.  And yes, they can if you want their terms.
