Gas and electric meters not working

What should I do both gas and electric meter have blank screens so no reading possible? I have chased Octopus for months. In July they said

“I have just got word back from the metering specialist, this is currently an ongoing HAN issue, and its not just you, as its currently being investigated by the DCC as they are looking into the defective issue with the HAN.“

no idea what this means.

Should I just do nothing and hope I don’t get huge bills. My dual bill in the good old days was £30pm. I increased it to £50 and octopus have not as yet asked for more. Reluctant to increase as have had no meter readings for months.

Advise please

Open a complaint, that CS response makes no sense at all.
If they are smart meters then a HAN problem would not result in blank screens on the meters but could prevent the meter readings from being retrieved by Octopus.
If they are not smart meters then there is no HAN in the first place...
  • There is a known problem with some WNC1 comms hubs which only the hub manufacturer can resolve with a firmware update. Comms hubs are a DCC responsibility. The comms hub establishes the WAN and the HAN. The WAN is used to connect to the DCC network. Your IHD connects to the HAN. Blank screens don’t necessarily mean that the meters have failed. Can you provide the meter models/manufacturers.  I assume that both meters were working at some time in the past?

Try the BRIGHT app to see if data is getting through to the DCC network.

How does a comms hub problem result in blank meter screens though?

If they are smart meters, is it just the In-House-Display that is not working?
If they are not smart meters, are we to believe that both simultaneously failed, but are still supplying gas and electricity?
    Picture of the meters needed.

It doesn't. Some meter displays are left intentionally blank; eg, the GWi G4. The display wakes up when a button is pressed. It would be extremely unusual for two meters to fail.

I would hope the OP hasn't ended up here without at least pressing a button, but let's check to be sure...

Smart meter screens, especially the gas meter, can be blank until you press a button, have you tried pressing the buttons on each of them to see if the screen 'wakes up' ?
