No energy bill for 2 months....

I've been a SO energy customer for just over 4 years. They've always been the cheapest and up until recently customer service were good and I've had no problems.
My account is always in credit and I make sure I send my meter readings every month.

My DD has been taken regularly and was actually reduced from £108/month to £98/month in November last year as I was so much in credit.

I noticed I didn't get a bill last month.
And again I haven't had a bill this month.
My payments have gone out and the credit is showing on my account but there's no statement for me to download and no debits for usage in August or September are showing on my statement.

I called customer services today and was told that my account was being 'reviewed' to make sure I have been paying the correct rate, they're 'holding' my account until they have finished their review. Apparently there is a huge backlog and it might take another 2 months for them to issue a statement.

This sounds like complete nonsense to me. I'm really worried they're going to suddenly whap me with a huge bill.

Is it usual for energy suppliers to stop issuing bills? Or stop taking payments?

Why don't you just read your meter and calculate the bill from that? They will presumably take an estimated amount by DD until the review is completed.

I keep a record of the meter readings and I can work it out from that but I'm concerned that they've stopped sending bills.
Even if they're reviewing my account surely they should still be sending me a bill every month and not just letting me rack up more and more credit?

You are still paying your DD each month, so there isn't much 'racking up' going on.

Just use the readings you have and do your own review to reassure yourself that your DD is adequate.
