Wasp nest under roof tiles

Options
I've got a lot of wasp activity pretty localised to one spot on my roof tiles. Lots of critters in and out from under a couple of tiles. I'm guessing it's a nest.

The area is not accessible from inside the house. Is it feasible for a professional to access it via ladders and/or the 1st floor flat roof? (see pic below).

They all seem to charge for call outs so I'd rather not have them over if they can't sort it.

And if it's not doable, will the nest just die off over winter?

    Don't bother with it now.

I had one last year under the eaves and just left it as they weren't bothering me.  All the wasps will die naturally over the coming weeks anyway as the weather turns colder. Wasps also don't return to the same nest, so this year I haven't had any at all.

I had the same but it was quite bothering. I had someone to kill off the nest and it has not recurred. It was no problem for them to access from outside.

    Take this good advice.

Wasps are an important part of our ecology. Let nature take its course.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

What Leon said, They have probably been there all summer, but you are only noticing them now because they are starting to look for sugar, which brings them into contact with humans. They'll be gone v soon, its not worth the expense or aggravation.

No doubt you would take the same view about a rat infestation!

Wasps are no doubt important to the ecosystem but can be annoying and even dangerous if you are allergic, if I’ve had to call out the pest controller to the care home where I work , he usually has a very long pole to reach inaccessible areas to apply the powder, but as others have mentioned, leave alone they won’t be around much longer.
  • I had a wasps nest in a similar place in my roof last year. I did get someone out to treat it, around the end of August. This seemed to get rid of them, but about 3 weeks later there was more activity. I got a different person out to it, and they said they would have to come back with a ladder to treat it, but that it probably wasn't worth it as they would be gone in a few weeks anyway. I decided to leave it, and they did disappear and haven't come back. Apart from a few coming out of hibernation in March - including one that crawled out of the bath plughole at about 10pm one night. Luckily they seem to have gone elsewhere to build a nest this year.

Wasps don't revisit the same nest, in fact leaving it in place discourages wasps from building another in the same place.

No comparison, as has already been pointed out the wasps will soon die out and have been there all summer without being a problem, a rat infestation won’t go away on its own. A high level nest poses little danger unless any of the occupants are at risk of going into anaphylactic shock from a wasp sting.
