Had an email from Paypal saying new device used for purchase, but it looks like it thinks the location is Sheffield, which is 100s of miles away! I've used the device before (& it shows up in my Paypal account) so no idea why this has been sent. Should I be concerned?

Happens all the time, the IP address allocated to your device (phone?) is probably associated with Sheffield. Plusnet by any chance?1

It will likely be based on the IP address of your internet provider as you exit their network onto the internet.
As long as you recognise the the transaction as you then I wouldn't be concerned about where in the UK it shows as coming from.1 -
I am pleased Paypal cannot track me accurately! Unless, of course, they say Sheffield to make you think they can't track you but in reality they know exactly where you are...0
