Tesco Petrol Station Lottery Tickets

This is a post with both venting and praise.
On Friday morning I filled up with petrol at a Tesco petrol station, and decided to splash out on a EuroMillions ticket on the off chance of winning £171 million. The ticket was not an ordinary lottery ticket - it came out from the same printer as standard till receipts. And the printer was obviously running a bit short of ink, as both my petrol receipt and the ticket were rather faint. Over the weekend I checked my numbers, and although I missed out on the £171 million, I could see that I had won £2.70
On my next visit to the petrol station I attempted to claim, but they said that as they don't have lottery terminals I had to go into the main store, and go to Customer Services. The lottery machine in the main store could not read the codes on the ticket as they were too faint, and the lad at the counter tried to enter the barcode manually, but couldn't decipher all of the numbers - upshot they wouldn't give me my £2.70.
So that's my vent - I don't think I'll ever bother to get a ticket from their petrol stations again.
The praise will be for their online WhatsApp service - I complained, and Jennifer asked me to send a photo of my ticket, which I did. She then sent me a "Digital Money Card" for £2.70 which I can spend in store - so I'm happy with that no fuss resolution.

I wonder if Jennifer would have sent you a card for £171 million if you'd won.4
