Airport Parking at Stanstead - Interesting Post

I partly blame the Hotel for:
- not having clear signs informing drivers at the entrance barrier ' THIS IS NOT AN AIRPORT CAR PARK. THIS SITE IS FOR HOTEL GUESTS ONLY DURING THEIR STAY'
and worse:
- trying to extort a huge £100 or £200 to lift the barrier when it seems there are NO contractual signs whereby a driver has agreed to this and nor is it proportionate or recoverable in law.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I'll report back if i get anything.
Comeandgo - again please read the post, there was poor signage in the dark. Your input is no long requested as i dont see it as a help or positive. :-)

What the Hotel did is like a clamper (pre-2012) operating with no signage whatsoever, demanding a fanciful £200 for release of the car.Whilst a landowner CAN charge to lift a barrier, it must be a proportionate sum and there must be signage.
Alternatively they can of course claim for damages.
But none of that applies here.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

only thing they have is a sign saying about hourly charges which is not lit up at night and no signage once you enter the car park anywhere, so that would be my arguments too as well as your points.
thanks so much and keep you posted!1 -
OP, I'm afraid that you cannot control who posts on a thread on a forum.jrc123 said:thanks for the input coupon-mad! you have been a great help through the years!

Only doing his job ? If you owed £200 and he was prepared to drop it to £100, then If I was his employer I would sack him !jrc123 said:thanks for the help!
I will come back if i receive anything.
The manager of the hotel was appalling didn't care in the slightest! But i guess he is only doing his job.
If anyone has had something similar happen do add a comment :-)
If you think this through, it was just a little sideline for him and nothing "official" at all !1 -
HI Pustit, totally agreed, it sound unofficial and could rely on this.
im hoping it will disappear but i will use this as info if it goes anywhere. :-)
