Energy price cap

Hi there,

My fix on my gas and electricity conisidently ends at the sametime the energy price cap comes into play (1 oct)

I watched Martin's recent video on this and my understanding is that no provider is offering anything cheaper than the cap, so there is no point in fixing or switching supplier. I just want to double check my understanding? I may have misunderstood.

I did the energy comparison website search and it seemed to confirm this as no deals were available.

Thank so much

Nobody is able to offer anything cheaper than the EPG price.

So no need to do anything.
  • Thanks for confirming.

Need to be careful as there are certainly better deals to be had on E7 between suppliers based on your percentage of night use...
Also suppliers can offer prices below the cap if they wish, Octopus have set their standing charges about 4% below the cap on their SVT for example.
... but yes, unless you are on E7 there isn't much to be gained by looking elsewhere at the moment, but we need to let the dust settle on all the changes then check again...

Of course that might be the case for E7..

Add to this also the region and if you are paying by direct debit or if you are on prepaid, and which supplier will allow you to change to them, and who makes their tariffs available in a nice sheet like EDF for easy comparison.

I believe EDF even has a price difference for prepaid depending if you have a smart meter or a key.

I see fun coming up here trying to compare this.
