I took this photo earlier when I went, as you can see the amount taken according to receipt was £0.00 and that the transaction was cancelled yet the money still came out for this transaction and the one that went though the actual time it worked successfully
I hope that isn't the only picture you have taken. It does not show amount, card number nor merchant.
How can that picture prove anything?

No, I’ve cropped it as it has details on that I only want to show to the bank and it has all the location and merchant number etc on. I only posted this as it shows the value of transaction at £0

The gent showed me the initial receipt that he luckily kept ( I have the receipt showing the transaction that went through)  and it did say on the receipt that the transaction was rejected and I should be refunded automatically, if not they said it was definitely a banking issue and nothing to do with them.

You are lucky in this circumstance, but if you ever get a rejected transaction then you should ask to keep the receipt.

Your bank should be able to do a chargeback, if they won't then tell them "I want to make a complaint", include in the complaint that the funds shouldn't have been debited in the first place & the handling of the situation so far. They might just refund you to avoid you taking it to the ombudsman. I'd ask for compensation as well.

I was getting together all my receipts and what the post office gave me and I was going to go in Monday to the bank to explain. Having looked at my account yesterday it came back in and I was given back the £42.80 from the post office. Strange that it took 7 days to arrive but least it’s gone back in. The guy at the post office told me though it’s happened to about ten customers the same day so it had to be an issue on their end surely
