SAY NO TO POST OFFICE TRAVEL CARD

Hi guys , just been to my local Post office to put £450 on my PO travel card, shocking rate of exchange given for topping up thd card with cash. Its cost me 17 euro for giving cash instead of buying over the Internet, that's 1.05 online versus 1.015 in the post office. Compare that to Tesco and giving cash over the counter it's 27 euros difference for £450.
Please shop around and get the best rates , don't do what I've done..

When my husband went to buy in the local post office the postmaster advised him he would get a better rate online.

We use my Chase card, fee free withdrawals world wide, good exchange rate with no fee and 1% back on (almost) all spending.
Used in Poland, Egypt, Portugal, Lithuania and Bulgaria so far this year with no problems.

I use Wise (mainly because I use them for other things) or a fee-free Barclaycard.

The advice I've always given for tourists is to keep a small amount of local currency (for markets/street food etc) withdrawn from an ATM but generally don't use cash unless required (from someone who's just spent a week in Poland and hasn't used cash at all).

In future just take your debit card and pay by card.

I've done this for years and it saves all the messing around.
