Trouble is the EBay fees are 14% +.
    Cash on collection......does have advantages.
Standard eBay fees are just under 13% + 30p.  They will take the fees regardless of how the buyer pays, cash doesn't circumvent them.
  • Cash on collection advantages are with other web sites.
An item sold for £19.99 on Ebay incurs total fees of £2.85 = 14.3%

    Hi there.

I’ve never sold anything on eBay before.

I have a bicycle advertised for around £1k, ‘buy it now cash on collection’, and somebody has asked me box it and post it to them.

The buyer has 100% positive feedback and over 4000 transactions recorded.

How would that work with payment. Is it safe or possible problems?

    Thank you.

If you offered it for collection only then you don’t have to ship it, you can insist on collection only.

if you do allow postage then you would need to ensure your able to box it to whatever specifications the courier requires, it would need a courier that will insure it fully as you will be responsible for maki g sure it arrives intact .

With a collection item assuming buyer pays before collection (and you can’t insist on cash) you are protected against an INR as long as you scan the QR collection code on collection. If you post then you are responsible for it getting there and should buyer do a SNAD then you would need to pay for the return.

Your fees are the same whether you take cash or managed payments.
