HRH_MUngo said:We used to live in a terraced house with enclosed stairs and over the years had many cats. Some disliked fireworks, others didn't mind. I found the ones who got stressed by the fireworks were somewhat happier if I put them on the stairs, where it was dark and enclosed and they couldn't see outside. I have no idea whether it would work for dogs.Might work for some for me that would not work its the noise for my dog. My dog doesn't like thunder either. But he is a weirdo as he does not mind fireworks when we are outside!!!!Hope for everything and expect nothing!!!

I'm a cat owner, but mine are currently being calmed in a thunderstorm by an '8 hours of birds and chipmunks' YouTube video on the big TV with the sound up loud - they're often titled for dogs and cats, but I don't know personally if dogs are into them as much as my guys are. There's thousands of them to choose from.0

When it was mainly just the one night- those were the days! the local dog club would meet on the beach & give the dogs a mega run & play to wear them out. Then a stodgy meal was recommended such as pasta based so that would make them more likely to sleep.
My hound who was really affected now doesn't hear well (15.5yo) so we don't have the same problem.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Play calming music (you can find a lot on YouTube) or keep the TV on.

I used to look after after someone's dogs on a regular basis. The one was terrified of fireworks but was somewhat calmed if she could sit as close to me as possible and I stroked her and talked in an upbeat but calm voice. The other dog couldn't have cared less about them, he was a terrific dog but a bit brainless
They were a lovely pair of dogs, the female died whilst I was looking after them for a fortnight (nothing to do with me, just old age!), very upsetting. They are both gone now. RIP B and K xxxI used to be seven-day-weekend0 -
