Specialist Insurance for Furnished Unoccupied Domestic Property Required

Hello there!

Shortly my house will be furnished and unoccupied for six months. Standard house insurance will not cover a period for this length of time so I need to go down the specialist insurer route.

I'm aware of a company called Vasek who does this type of insurance. I'd like to know if anyone can suggest / recommend any other insurance companies who cover unoccupied domestic properties for long periods ie six months.

Alan Boswell are an insurance broker that offered me a specialist policy for an unoccupied property. You may need to ring for a quote.

Thanks for that info. I'll do a Google search and give them a call.
  • Do check with your current insurer too. Lots don't advertise it as a service but can/will sort it for existing customers, especially if it's going to be a fixed period of time and you're going to be returning - they'll want to keep your custom.

We had empty house insurance with Vasek for a while several years ago, although ours was largely unfurnished. I think somebody needs to check the property fairly regularly for you to be covered, especially in the winter and you may need to drain down your plumbing.
