    They admitted that the error is common and the starter form was confusing. I ticked no when I should have ticked yes. 
    Payroll never received the SL2 from HMCR, which they needed to take it off.

    That's the student loan explained. What else did you tick as it might explain the tax code too?

    I think it’s still emergency tax, and HMRC haven’t sent payroll the new tax code yet because my P45 was late.

    HMRC said they told payroll my new tax code and also told them to stop the student loan. They also said I shouldn’t have been on emergency tax in September. 

    Hopefully it’s all sorted now.

  • Got a tax rebate of £990.
    and the student loan charge of £30 was refunded. 

    It will reach my account Thursday.
