Being Charged For A Student Loan That I did Not take out

I have never taken out a loan and have never been to uni. I started at the NHS in June. I worked in a care home before, so I’m used to not being paid properly, but this is too much.
HMRC: Okay, it should be sorted on your next slip. Any problems ring Your Payroll.
*Next payslip arrives and the student loan is gone but still on emergency tax*
Payroll says: Nothing we can do, ring HMRC
HMRC: Okay, it should be sorted on your next slip. Any problems ring Your Payroll.
*student loan is still gone but still on emergency tax*
Then I raised a complaint to HMRC, they said I was on the wrong tax code and payroll should have it.
On this month’s pay slip, I am still on Emergency tax and the student loan is back on. I have complained to both, and if it doesn’t get sorted, I don’t know where I can go to take it higher.

Has your employer got the correct NI number for you?No free lunch, and no free laptop1

Along with what macman says about your NI number, is there a student loan reference number on your payslip?
If there is, and there should be if you're supposed to be repaying a loan, then you can contact the Student Loans Company, information in the following link -

That is worth a try because obviously HMRC and your employer are not helping at all.
If I were you I would definitely pursue that complaint with HMRC again because it sounds as if they're not even attempting to put the matter right. Your employer's payroll will only have the right code if HMRC have sorted the matter out and given it to them. It's not a payroll problem.
Your employer really just has to do what HMRC says, so your grumble is still with HMRC. I do hope you manage to get it all sorted out.
If HMRC continue to take no action, you can make an official complaint ABOUT them, as opposed to TO them, as per info in the following link.

Good luck, I do hope it gets sorted out very soon. A really frustrating situation. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Did you complete a new starter form for payroll when you joined? What boxes did you tick?0
-
Yes, I can’t remember what the starters form looked like as it was months ago. I don’t recall ticking that I was a student or had a loan. There’s only one way of life, and that’s your own!0

I never ticked any box to say I was on a student loan. It was added on through error.HR said they took last month, but it will take a while before it is reimbursed. Dosen’t explain why it’s still on my wage slip. There’s only one way of life, and that’s your own!0

I wrote another email to HR.I really hope my wages will be normal by October. There’s only one way of life, and that’s your own!0
