Giving customers a quote in euros instead of pounds?

Wondering whether it’s time to start doing this, at the rate the pound is falling it will be below parity with euro and dollar possibly within weeks or even days.

As the euro is not the currency of the UK, you'll probably lose potential customers who can't be bothered to check conversion rates or will worry they will lose out between quote and invoice as the pound sterling drops between these
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • The only alternative then is quoting higher in pounds, to compensate for predicted inflation.  I could quote a lower price today in euros, but then I guess the problem could be customers refusing to pay when the pound falls and they say they didn’t understand.

Unless the competition follow suit and also quote higher prices, you risk losing business. Something else occurs to me that by quoting in euros as well as potentially alienating customers who don't understand euros, some will think you've made a mistake and think the quote is in pounds.

Personally, I'd say quote in the currency in which you expect to be paid. And what does your accountant suggest?

Make sure your quotes are only valid for a limited (short) time
  • Why are you worrying?  If you quote in pounds at whatever price you need to charge to make your money then they can convert.
As it stands, as far as your overseas customers are concerned your product is getting cheaper and cheaper everyday but your pricing isnt having to change.
Do you have a euros bank account for them to pay in to?
Or if you quote the price in euros that you have always done and then they trnasfer the equivalent GBP, what you should have been seeing is your bank account receiving more pounds for the same euro value you haev previoulsy quoted.

We are missing out as the ciurrent very weks performance of the pound is hitting the cost of our imports from Australia
