It just depends on your stage of life/lifestyle. With young children at home I already work part time to spend time with them. It would be counterproductive to take a second job when I could go full time at my job instead (this would pay more than a second job in retail or similar though I’d need to factor in childcare…). Plus if I worked in the evenings the heating/TV would still be on for my family anyway so no saving there. Before I had kids it’s definitely something I’d have considered though.

I have been trying to work out whether it’s cheaper to work from home (needs more heating/electricity) or drive the 20 minutes to and from the office (petrol costs). Can’t figure it out! I only need to go in once a week but I can voluntarily go in more if I want.

Last week the office thermostat was set to 25C, we were all sweltering and asking for it to be turned down!
