You can deposit it all in the highest interest rate savings account you can find for 6 months because FSCS offers 6 months protection up to £1m for temporary high balances.1

Landscaping quotes / bills are really la la and the result is often no better than it was. I can't chuck any more at my pension but still wouldn't spend more than 2K on landscapingMillyonare said:How critical is it really to "extend the house"? Be honest.
My mate just wasted £50k on landscaping his house / garden, and it looked little different to when he started.
When someone pointed out that he could've thrown that 50k in his pension, and subsequently retired perhaps 5 years early, he looked crestfallen. He knew it was a bad choice.1 -

Probably for when the 6 month fscs rule expires.1

We’re planing for our old(er) age. The extension will mean we can either live upstairs or downstairs, with the upstairs accommodation being able to be used by a full time carer, when, and if necessary! We’re both in reasonably good heath at the moment but would rather avoid a Care home option if either of us needed one.Millyonare said:How critical is it really to "extend the house"? Be honest.2 -
You shouldn't feel obliged to justify your decision to total strangers on the Internet.Aberdeenangarse said:
