Then a delay of 20 minutes on the Tube. Try claiming from TfL.
Then... your problem is that the ticket office staff at Liverpool St gave you misleading advice. Did you note the name of the person who you spoke to? Did they specifically say that the Colchester staff would book the taxi and that Greater Anglia would cover it? If so, that's your complaint to Greater Anglia - nothing to do with the type of ticket.I need to think of something new here...1 -

I agree with this. You were delayed while using a rail ticket (that is, your journey did not begin in London and your ticket split was not in London). Furthermore, when you knew there was a problem which was not your fault you did as instructed by station staff. Your complaint and request for reimbursement should be to Greater Anglia.

Thank you for the details .
The first train company - Birmingham to Euston that caused the initial delay - resulted in you only having 30 mins to connect which was not sufficient time .With delay repay they are responsible for paying out for the entire journey ( the fact that you had purchased split tickets is irrelevant ) .
You are entitled to full or % refunds according to their delay repay policy - you may need to write to them & included copies of all tickets as some of the online claim forms only enable one ticket to be uploaded .0 -
Sorry, my mistake; at the time in question the minimum interchange time is 48 minutes (15+18+15) and so if 50 minutes was allowed it was a valid connection at that time.outtatune said:I have just done a random search on the national rail app and Tring > Colchester has given me 16:00 arriving Euston 16:47 connecting to a 17:32 at Liverpool St - a 45 minute connection, less than the time the OP allowed. That's also wrong; at that time the minimum connectional allowance is only 43 minutes (15+18+15)The amount of time required varies; it can be 43, 48 or 53 minutes depending on time of day.Unfortunately where a through itinerary (note: itinerary, not tickets!) is not obtained by booking it as one journey, it can be very difficult to get staff to arrange taxis where connections are missed.Had the journey been booked on a split ticket website, it would be really easy to show the itinerary to staff who can immediately see that they are obliged to arrange a taxi.I see the 2110 was heavily delayed and the next available train departed at 2119; was that the train actually caught?0

The Liverpool Street booking office agreed with me, without even needing to see it. The Colchester staff didn't care and made it clear that even if they saw my tickets and itinerary, they wouldn't be arranging me a taxi.1 -

OK, you have a valid complaint. Just make clear when complaining all the details that it took two pages of discussion to drag out.
