I have been trying to get a job with a certain company for over two years....Its hard to get into this company. In the mean time, my uncle had a friend who is a supervisor of another good company and it is my second choice. Well, I got an offer at the job my uncle's friend works at.....The job description says temporary, maybe 30 months but if i work out they may keep me. Now, I just saw a boss at my dream job company and he said he knows i applied before and he really wants to get me in there. I have a really good chance on getting on at the dream job, though I have no offer at the dream job yet. I am worried if I take the second choice job ( which is a big advancement for me) , then the dream job will call me with an offer. I would feel so bad to leave the second choice job after my uncle and his friend put good words in for me.......but I would hate to miss out on the very rare opportunity of my dream job, where i could advance. Also the second choice job ( which I will be accepting as I have no other job offer currently) is a business that frequently is merging or buying out or being bought out by other companies and the dream job is a super stable company that is going to be around no doubt my lifetime. There is no point in staying at my current job as i am only getting straight pay, no benefits at all, no vacation at all...and Ive been there 3 1/2 years and theres no chance to advance. Both of the other jobs is a pay raise and full benefits. The dream job does have a career advancement pathway where I could end up making 6 figures. It is a more dangerous job, though it is what I went to school and am trained to do and they train you for a long time and are big on safety. I would just feel sooooo guilty and bad if Im in the second choice job for a month and the dream company offers me a job. I have had several interviews and physical tests for various jobs at the dream company and never got on.

Take the one you’ve been offered. If you get the dream job later and it’s a better package then hand in your notice and move. The job you take now may offer more to keep you, or they may just let you go, but either way you need to do what’s best for you, not what’s best for them.
