Transfer Balance

Hey,
Looking for some advice on my credit card which I am looking at due to interest rise.
I currently have a 0% card with MBNA which runs out in December. I also have a Tesco card with nothing on it that I was looking to move my balance too
I have been sent an offer from Tesco for 0% balance till December 2023, but this runs out on the 7th October.
My question is - Should I move my MBNA balance early to get this deal or wait until nearer the time when the MBNA runs out?
Also, I have been informed that the Tesco account will be closed as not used.
Any suggestions would be greatly received.
Many thanks
Nicola

  • From what you describe, I'd be tempted to shift the balance now.  There's no guarantee you'll be able to get another 0% card come December.
But then, you really do need to be planning to repay the balance on the Tesco card by December 2023.  There's no guarantee you'll be able to get another 0% card to shift any remaining balance to - especially with all the uncertainty in the world at the moment, who knows what stance lenders will take in a year's time?  Remember, transferring the debt doesn't, in itself, do anything to clear it.  It just kicks the can a bit further down the road.
