    paying the solicitor has nothing to do with AML checks, paying your deposit does. since you've exchanged already, I'm assuming you paid your deposit a while back, so your solicitor has nothing to do with the money you're paying them for their services.

    you can get the money from selling weed, begging, prostitution or friends and family, no one will ask any questions or be able to say anything :).

    Brilliant, looks like I'm taking to the streets in that case! Made me chuckle that.

    My husband, being the maths genius that I will never be, spotted that an early repayment charge of £5600 was included in our mortgage figures where it shouldn't have been - we're porting our deal across and it should never have been included in the final balance due from us. Clerical error.

    So, with that amount minused, minus the stamp duty cut (thanks Liz), means the amount due from us is much more achievable. It'll be tight, but we don't need to borrow money and that's the most important thing. Might need to prostitute myself afterwards to make up for the amount of money we've had to fork up, but hey.
