JuzaMum said:I am having my garden landscaped (as I type actually) and it is expensive but watching the amount of waste they have had to remove, materials brought in and physical work I think it is not overpriced.
But it really depends on the quote. Yes, it's expensive but my point was that I personally think that many landscapers skim a lot off the top. That's fine they are entitled to do that but it's not for me. I am happy to pay extra for the expertise but not thousand of pounds.
I may be completely wrong but for example when I look at the prices hiring trades directly to clear, level and prepare my garden with a digger including disposal of everything and getting the garden turfed the price is significantly cheaper then the near £10k I seem to get quoted by 2 separate people.
I will be getting quotes from some trades on Thursday and will provide an update for comparison.
Yes, it is a lot more hassle but if I can save thousands I will opt for putting the extra effort.0 -
I managed to find someone to do the job which is currently underway but didn't get a quote for removing 1.4m x 2.7m of concrete base and turfing that area as our base is too long.
Any idea what a reasonable cost for this would be with the landscapers who are already there as I know they will charge extra for this. They were initially meant to take of about 0.5m x 2,7m but I want to remove more due to the base being too large,
So I would need removal of an extra 0.9m x 2.7m concrete base and turfing of that area?.
Trying to get an idea in case they quote too high a figure.0 -
Hi, can I ask if using 8.5 porcelain square slabs for the length of the patio, would the half slab normally be laid at the start of the house or at the edge where the patio joins to the garden (grass)?0

So I got the garden done. I will retake pictures but the one below is from just before garden was finished and back fence was put in.
I paid just under 10k in the end so not sure if that's too much but was cheaper then other quotes.
Included was 3 grab lorries, 1 skip, £1,050 of porcelain slabs, 30 sq mt of patio installed, garden lowered, levelled and 6 inches of topsoil and turfing and new fencing to the back and left side of garden. Based in London. 16m x 8m garden.
