Shawbrook

Do they ever update their rates? got some money in their instant access account and waiting to fix but looks like i might have to transfer out to another bank.

Comments

  • Rates are low in comparison to others at the moment , Saturday down for maintenance so maybe increases then.
  • They actually update their rates a lot

But they have been quiet in recent weeks

all that will change soon hopefully
  • I agree. They tend to be quite early in the upping rates cycle. Maybe they've got enough cash for now.

Shawbrook put their rates down, a few weeks back.
I just topped up my Al Ryan and Gatehouse accounts.
Will switch the rest to Ford money next week.

    I'm struggling with this TBH.

On MSE the top EA rate is Ford at 1.95% and Ford only very recently (days ago) increased the rate, compared to Shawbrook EA at 1.81% (1.86% for those of use previously with SB), so a whole 0.14% behind.  Hardly 'way' behind, and hopefully they will react to the rise yesterday, whereas it is probable that Ford will not react further to the recent rise.

These smaller banks only offer the best rates when they need more money to lend out/fund their businesses. Once they have enough, they deliberately become less competitive for a time.
