need a small camera looking out of an outbuilding window to check on something similar to those small Tapo type of things but it is proving difficult to find.
I thought that i could get a camera that records to an SD card so i could check the recording later but i was told the Tapo ones need wifi to operate and the outbuilding does not have wifi however it does have one plug socket.
According to google you can get cameras which work without electric or wifi but it does not show any, Anyone know of any?

They certainly exist.I have a SimCam A1 which can work like this; it records - loops - on to a micro-SD, so it records as soon as it's powered up. But it's big.Usually you'd also have the App so you can watch on your phone, note all 'triggers', etc, or stream to a PC, but the camera itself records as a stand-alone unit as long as it's powered. You'd need to physically remove the card in order to review what was caught, tho', and before it's over-written.You are looking at a stand-alone unit, with a built-in rechargeable battery?0

If you have look at those nature cameras, they all record to an onboard SD card and don't require wifi or an external power source.0

most car dash cams do what you want, could be powered by a 12v battery.0

Lots of Trailcam type cameras are available which run off rechargeable batteries and record onto a SD card. I use one for recording hedgehogs in the garden which has a timer for nightime activity and the batteries last many days.0
