I had another big Asda delivery yesterday and nothing was out of stock or manky when it arrived so I feel like I'm winning at life! I've got a full fridge and plenty in the cupboards to make meals with and I've even got a tentative meal plan for the next couple of days-
Tomato and feta risottoVeg & smoked tofu curry & riceTortellini with aubergine, spinach & lemon oilSausages with mixed root veg "chips"I spent £84.95 so I'm up to £181.75/£300 now. I'm on track as I shouldn't need another big shop until the last week of the month when there's half term and visiting family to factor in.9 -

@LadyWithAPlan - I'm drooling at the thought of your banana bread, I can thoroughly recommend Meera Sodha's recipe which is both gluten free and vegan Meera Sodha’s vegan recipe for gluten-free tahini banana bread | Vegan food and drink | The Guardian just in case you haven't come across it before. I bought my buckwheat flour from Ho**and and Ba**et. If you have another recipe that's good I'd love to hear about it as another vegan and gluten free cake to add to my repertoire wouldn't hurt.
I spent, or rather wasted, £2 on what was supposed to be good bread at M*rks on Monday for a bit of a treat to eat in the sunshine. I ended up wishing I'd made my own as I just didn't think it had much flavour at all and it was so chewy that it made my jaw ache, I'll try to remember this for next time I'm tempted by the appearance of a loaf.
Then today I spent £9.66 at M*rks on 2 x YS Cropwell Bishop Stilton, YS sweet gem lettuces, f/f greek style yoghurt, 2 x radishes, 4 x organic milk and a tin of chopped tomatoes. I also spent £2 at Sains on red lentils.
That makes my new total £38.99/£133.30 and my average daily spend £3.24.11 -
Spends to add, £11ish from the local cowop and garage. I went in for as many pain meds as I could buy as hub has suspected Covid or Flu and ended up with
All YS, baby potatoes, 2 loaves, 3 bags of cherry tomatoes, 3 broccoli and 2 double cream. Everything in there came to £6.94 which meant that all items would be cheaper than bought even at the cheaper supermarkets. The cream has already been made into butter which at 88p for approx 200g Is considerably cheaper than the cost of actual butter at the moment. The buttermilk used for a soda bread and the tomatoes and spuds roasted whilst the oven was on.Meal plan hasn’t gone well with hub being so poorly but still using the ingredients we have in.£242/350Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Finally! New financial month is here (hubby is paid 4 weekly which dictates our spending plans)
Target is £400, two adults one preteen and one dog. Presently £20.43/£400 for 13/10-9/11 . We urgently needed milk, bread, ingredients for dinner, and things to treat what may be a cold or covid jab effects. Unnecessary spends in that were cookies and Pepsi, but for us that is very restrained.
So excited to get started. We are generally reasonably on track with the actual shopping, but awful at nipping in to the shops for an extra essential and buying crap that takes it up to £20 or £30

Went into town to collect our new glasses, so did a bit of shopping while there. £11.50, in the greengrocers, a sack of potatoes, 32 apples and two bags of sweets for OH. Then £10.32, in farmfoods. Bread, milk, sweets again, chocolate biscuits. Could have got the bread for less at aldi, but we are rushing back as the vet was coming, been waiting for her for a week! Total to date now is, £2407.94/£2640, leaves £232.06 for the remainder of the year. Won't need anything for at least a week, I hope. Hugs to all, mumtoomany, xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.10
