Eon Next £400 - Confusion about their website statement....
You'll see a discount of £66 applied to your energy bills in October and November, and £67 a month from December to March 2023.
We'll be paying the money differently, depending on how you pay for your fuel now:
Fixed Direct Debit customers will receive the money automatically as a deduction to their monthly Direct Debit.
So....Do I presume that the unit rates will stay the same and my bill will have a Credit of £66 to off-set against the full charges, and at the same time my DD will be reduced by £66 as well?
So for example:
Total charges @ tariff rates = £200
Credit = -£66
DD Payment = -£134 ( was £200 this month ).

The £400 energy rebate has nothing to do with unit prices or the Energy Price Guarantee cap.
All that will happen, as I think your example suggests, is that the DD taken from your bank account will be £66 less than usual but the credit into your energy account will be the same as usual.3 -
Unit rates have nothing to do with the £400 rebate. I suspect you may be muddling up the newly announced Price Cap, whereby tariffs may (or may not) change.1

So for example:

Opening Balance on account = £125
October charges on account (irrespective of what tariff you are on or even rates) = £150 and leads to a balance of (£25 Debit)
Your Actual DD payment = £200 - £66 = £134
But new balance after DD = (- £25) + £200 = £175
My situation (I expect due to paying off bill/account balance by Variable Direct Debit)
Opening Balance = £0
If October Charges = £60
My Anticipated DD payment = £0 (due to the £67 reduction)
Balance left on account = £7 (credit to offset the next month)

As per above the £400 bung is unrelated to whatever the unit rate is,was,or will be.
I received an email from Eon earlier today with new prices,as of 01/10/22 Southern Scotland area, unit price is rising from 27.84p to 33.763p and standing charge price is rising from 49.646p to 50.665p.
Dare say other customers will receive similar emails with adjustment for the relevant supply areas in due course.1
