Change of Address

Hi all,

In brief - had a parking charge with Euro Car Parks which I appealed and lost (had paid for an hour and exceeded it slightly, explained circumstances that phone battery had died by the time I tried to top up an extra hour - then e-mailed them that evening requesting that I purchase the additional hour retrospectively, ignored but have proof of receipt in their automated reply).

Over last year or so have received numerous letters from Debt Recovery Plus which I've ignored, as seems to be the general advise.
Today I received a letter from CST Law (first one from them) 'Unpaid Debt - Reminder Notice'.

Don't believe the advise is of anything but to ignore at this stage but I've recently changed address - got this letter via Royal Mail redirect.  States at the end of the letter that if no payment is received by 26th to keep DRP updated of any change of address to avoid court docs are sent to correct address.

My query relates to who I update in DRP as to my change of address. The letters from DRP only have an address for the ICO and DVLA, plus a PO Box for cheques.  Also do I need to update anyone else of my change of address?

Thank you in anticipation of your help.

You absolutely must inform the parking company of your new address and tell them to inform their agents about the change.

Failure to do that means that you run the risk of a Claim being filed at your old address, you knowing nothing about it and a Default Judgment being made against you without any opportunity to defend yourself.

And by the way, don't forget to tell the DVLA about the address change for both your Driving Licence and your vehicle's Registration Document.

CST are from the same stable as DRP.  All the same company, effectively.

They will both have a website Privacy page with their DPO contact details on it. So does Euro Car Parks.

You are absolutely right to ignore their drivel but also quite right to update the address for more of their drivel!

You must instruct the DPO of Euro Car Parks to erase your old details and replace it with your new address for service, and to instruct all their agents to do the same.
Make sure you use the word I have highlighted.

If you move again before six years are up, then you will need to repeat the process.

  • Thank you all!

I'll do as above, DVLA and lease company have already been informed of change of address.

I'll look to get acknowledgement from all 3 parties too. Obviously I'll quote their reference numbers but is there anything else I need to state, thinking in terms of the actual 'invoice' or is just as simple as:

    Ref. No
    Old address - erase this
    Update with new address
    Share with agencies
    Confirm such.

    Thank you again.

DVLA have already been informed of change of address.
Twice?  They need two separate notifications - one for your driving licence and one, crucially, for your V5C (logbook). The two divisions don't talk to each other in the context of new address updates.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Nothing else. You are only communicating a data change to their DPO.  This is not an email that should have any dispute wording added.

    Thank you again everyone.

The car is a lease so the VC5 is held by the lease company.  They've been informed of the change of address.

Surely this is a mistake on their behalf?

Don't do their job for them. If they want to hold the hirer/lessee liable then it is up to them to follow the strict requirements of the PoFA.

Just send them a copy of a previous letter about this same PCN from them instead, assuming they've been writing to you at the old address.  That's sufficient to prove you are the same person.
